The North American Industry System (NAICS) Code for this acquisition is 334220 - Radio and Television Broadcasting and Wireless Communications Equipment Manufacturing. The Small Business Size Standard is 1250 Employees. PSC is 5340 – Hardware, Commercial. The Government requires radio frequency circuits that need to be supported under stringent size, weight, and power (SWaP) constraints. The SpaceX Walkman radio is the only radio that can support a subset of the required circuits within the smallest SWaP form factor currently available. There are no other radios in the open market that have the exact fit, form, and function as SpaceX Walkman Radio. Using a different model would require designing, engineering, and testing a new system to the exact specifications to seamlessly integrate and perform with the Government’s current infrastructure. This would result in significant duplication of cost and schedule delays; therefore, this acquisition can only be obtained through SpaceX. This solicitation is not a request for competitive quotes. A determination not to compete this proposed requirement based on responses to this solicitation is solely within the discretion of the Government.
