BACKGROUND This is a notice to Request Information (RFI)/Sources Sought Notice (SSN) from industry to help determine the availability and capability of small business and other than small businesses that are capable of providing any or all of the services required by the U.S. Department of Commerce, National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). NIST is conducting market research to identify potential sources that can provide a Forklift that fully meets all technical specifications and delivery
requirements identified in this notice. This notice is strictly to request information for market research purposes to help NIST determine the appropriate acquisition strategy for this requirement. This notice shall not be construed as a solicitation, an obligation, or commitment by the NIST. OVERVIEW The National Fire Research Lab (NFRL), located on the NIST campus in Gaithersburg, Maryland, is a unique experimental facility dedicated to understanding fire behavior and structural response to fire. The NFRL laboratory provides 3000 m2 (32,300 ft2) of experimental space built around four exhaust hoods (1 MW, 3 MW, 10 MW, and 20 MW) connected to an Emissions Control System to treat smoke and combustion products. NIST has a potential requirement for a Contractor to provide one forklift that meets all technical specifications identified below. The forklift must be new. Used or remanufactured equipment will not be considered for award. Experimental, prototype, or custom items will not be considered. Minimum Specifications: The forklift must consist of the following
requirements: Solid pneumatic tires, 5,000 lb capacity Runs on LPG, Has a side shifter, Has a fork positioner/spreader, Air ride seat, Has an overhead guard height less than 88 inches, Has a maximum allowable overall weight less than 10,000 pounds, The mast shall: Extend up at least 15 feet, Has a maximum overall lower height less than 88 inches, Contain 48” forks. A one-year manufacturer’s warranty. ANTICIPATED DELIVERY
REQUIREMENTS Delivery Schedule: Delivery of the forklift shall be F.O.B Destination and shall occur within 60 days After Receipt of an Order (ARO). Delivery shall be made to the NIST Shipping and Receiving address, located at 100 Bureau Drive, Building 301, Gaithersburg, MD 20899-0001, during the hours of 7:30am – 4:00pm.
