Description

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), U.S. Department of Commerce, is seeking a qualified contractor to provide all labor, materials, equipment, and supervision necessary to construct, modify, and install permanent ADA-compliant handrail systems across the NIST Boulder Campus located at 325 Broadway, Boulder, CO. This project, managed by the Facilities Maintenance Division, is intended to bring existing handrail infrastructure into full compliance with the 2010 ADA Standards for Accessible Design and applicable OSHA

requirements, while also improving functionality for snow removal through removal of lower railings and installation of compliant middle rails. Work includes verification of field conditions, demolition and replacement of select concrete stairs and curbs, fabrication and installation of handrails meeting dimensional, graspability, continuity, and safety standards, and coordination with the

Contracting Officer’s Representative (COR) for inspections and approvals. The contractor will be responsible for site-specific safety planning, adherence to NIST security and access

requirements, weekly progress coordination, and timely submission of required
