The required 450-ton chiller rental service is already provided by Georgia Power Company. In 2022, Georgia Power Company provided the existing 450-ton chiller in which they delivered and set up at building 20128. The existing chiller was purchased because the base central plant, failed in 2022. provides chilled water to most of the administrative and industrial facilities. The cost of the repair at was originally estimated at $ and is not expected to be completed until . While determining a solution, B20128 indicated that they had production that was down due to the lack of sufficient chilled water that was going to cost about per year and impact production in as well. Therefore, the current contract was awarded as a modification to the Loop 3 UESC project by US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Huntsville Energy Division. WR-ALC and AFCEC have decided to transfer contract administration of the UESC from US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Huntsville Energy Division to Defense Logistics Agency Energy (DLAE). DLAE does not yet have a contract in place that could be modified to keep the rental chiller through the transition from Huntsville Energy Division to DLAE.
