Description

The purpose of this project is to ensure compliance and reliability of the Salem VAMC fuel storage system through critical repairs, upgrades, and testing. The contractor should prioritize major tasks including removal and replacement of monitoring consoles, repair and potential replacement of tanks, installation of new tank sumps, spill containment systems, and overfill protection devices. Key work includes repairs at tanks 143E (Building 157), 143W (Building 156), B-2 (Building 154), and B-4 (Building 154), demolition of four diesel underground fuel storage tanks (138, 140, 141, and 142), and replacement and repair of eleven fuel level monitoring systems on sixteen fuel storage tanks. Following these repairs, the contractor shall conduct all required Virginia DEQ compliance testing for underground and above-ground tanks, provide detailed reports of deficiencies, and deliver cost estimates for corrective actions.
