Description

This project involves the removal of an existing concrete trail along the Portage Lake lakefront, and construction of a new trail that connects the existing Trail of Blue Ice to the Begich Boggs Visitor Center (BBVC). Additionally, two (2) existing outhouses will be decommissioned, and one (1) new double vault outhouse will be built in a new location. Option item: Work consists of constructing a scenic outlook platform with interpretive panels by the lakefront. Option item: Construction of a trail connecting the beach access near the building to the parking lot. Project work will include demolition, earthwork, clearing and grubbing, small concrete structures, retaining wall installation, drainage, trail switchbacks, trail surfacing, outhouse installation, erosion control measures and re-seeding.
