Background: The Adult Laryngoscopy Sets, Micro Laryngoscopy Sets as well as the FESS Instrument Sets are used to perform various surgical procedures involving the Sinus Cavity. Currently the OR only has enough sets of the required ENT instruments and FESS instruments for the current ENT staff. The lack of additional instruments for the two new ENT providers is impacting patient care and the ability to schedule surgeries. Additionally, if an instrument is dropped during surgery, we must have a backup set, as the VA is not permitted to flash sterilize an item this presents a safety issue for the patient in surgery. It is mandated by SPS policy to have additional sets in order to have sterile instruments/scopes available should something fail or become contaminated.
