Background: The Mann-Grandstaff VA Medical Center located in Spokane, WA has a temporary need to contract out for medical center laundry and linen processing services due to a temporary facility closure for repairs. Tasks: The Contractor shall furnish all labor, equipment, supervision (Plant Manager), management (Contract Manager), supplies, bulk delivery carts, transportation, and facilities necessary to perform contractor owned/contractor operated bulk laundry/linen services. The VA estimates 610,000 lbs. processed per year based on 2025 bulk weight volume processed. Clean linen delivery and soiled linen pickup shall be between 6:30am and 8:30am Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at the Mann-Grandstaff VA Medical Center. Bulk laundry/linen shall processed and returned within 3 business days after being picked up. Requirements: All work shall be performed under sanitary conditions as specified by Joint Commission (JC) and Association of Linen Management (ALM) www.almnet.org. In the facility, physical separation, through the presence of a barrier wall and the use of pass-through equipment is required to maintain positive air pressure in the clean section relative to a negative air pressure in the soiled section. The Laundry Plant layout/design should incorporate a “design for asepsis” where clean linen does not come into contact with soiled linens nor share the same physical space, thus avoiding cross-contamination or reintroduction of bacteria once processed.
