Description

1.0 Introduction/Background: Compressor B, located in IRT’s refrigeration plant recently had a leak form due to a compromised shaft seal. This compressor is needed to ensure full availability of IRT’s operating envelope. It is currently inoperable until the seal is replaced. 2.0

Scope of Work: This task involves replacing the compressor B shaft seal. 3.0

Objectives: Upon replacement of the seal, the compressor will be returned to normal operation and fulfill the full complement of IRT’s cooling capacity. 4.0 Description of the Work/Contractor Tasks: This task is very simple in that the contractor will only be responsible for replacing the seal. IRT staff will be responsible for preparing the compressor which includes LOTO, transfer of refrigerant from compressor to another part of the system to completely isolate the compressor of any refrigerant and general area cleanliness. The work is expected to take 1-2 days. 5.0
