Description

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Boulder Campus seeks qualified small business contractors capable of performing a construction project to remove and replace two existing stair assemblies located in the lower-level mechanical room of Building 2. Work includes demolition and legal disposal of one (1) existing 5-riser wooden staircase and one (1) existing 9-riser wooden staircase and fabrication and installation of new galvanized steel stair assemblies. Due to restricted access within the mechanical room, the stair assemblies must be field-fabricated and installed in place, including required on-site welding. The new stair systems shall include slip-resistant industrial treads and code-compliant handrails and guardrails, and shall be securely anchored to the existing structure. Work also includes coordination with existing mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems; protection of adjacent surfaces; cleanup and debris removal; and compliance with applicable building codes, OSHA regulations, and NIST safety and security
